Welcome |

Welcome. My name is Frederick C. Thomas "Freddy" for short. This is my personal Web site and much more. I put this site up for several purposes: (1) to showcase my son with his burgeoning modeling career (2) to share some of the technical knowledge I've amassed over the years in the computer industry which I've otherwise often found to be frustratingly scattered or non-existent (3) to publish my family tree and invite others to help me fill in the blanks (4) to provide a family and friend message board and chat server to help bring us just a little bit closer together and (5) to pay tribute to my family before me.
Why CamilleGerard.com? I registered this name a couple of years ago with the intention of incorporating. I wanted to bring, under one umbrella, my various endeavors. Camille and Gerard are the given names of my two late grandfathers: Camille Thomas, a one time Haitian ambassador and Gerard Drouin a pharmaceutical salesman whose family, a large number of them (e.g. Louis Drouin and Guy Drouin), "disappeared " or were outright executed under the Haitian Duvalier dictatorship. I thought it only a fitting tribute as I loved both of them dearly.
I am first-generation, 100% Haitian-American, born in Flushing, NY in 1971. Both my parents' families emigrated from various parts of Haiti (along with hundreds of thousands of other Haitians) in the 50's and 60's to escape the aforementioned persecution and increasingly horrific standard of living. Most of those folks wound up, initially, either in Miami or New York City. For those of you wondering, Haiti originally consisted of Arawak and Taino Indians. Yes, this is where Columbus first landed in 1492. It was later known as the island of Hispaniola then, Saint Domingue or Santa Domingo. Slaves were abducted and brought over mostly from Dahomey (Nigeria, Togo, and Benin). Following colonization, revolts, subsequent independence and French/US/Spanish/English... [Read More]

Family Trees Posted |

Both my Thomas and Drouin family trees have now been posted! Check the Forums. You must register, be approved, and login in order to retrieve the information. Sorry but it must remain this way to provide a minimal level of security. I did not want to facilitate easy dissemination for identity thieves.
I've had this extensive genealogical tree since the passing of my late great-grandmother, Angélique LARAQUE (born GLAUDE), in 2002. Much of the information is provided thanks to Felix LARAQUE, Denise USHER, Lucienne LARAQUE, Marthe DROUIN (I miss you Grandma), Marie-Edlyn THOMAS, Nicole MILLER, and various online genealogical databases. I originally constructed it in Visio format. I am nearly finished converting it for use with standard GEDCOM applications such as RootsMagic. I have also formatted it nicely using phpGedView.
If you have any further information to add, corrections, etc., please feel free to contact me and I'll update the online versions.

In anycase, here is a list of the surnames already in the databases:
BATRAVILLE, BAYARD, BYRON, CAGNAT, CAVE, DABADY, DALLEMANDE, DELATOUR, DESHAUTERES, DROUIN, DUCHEINE, FILS-AIME, FLORVILLE, FOUCHE, FURY, GASTON, GAYET, GLAUDE, GUERIN, JEAN, KERNEZANE, KLEINMAN, LARAQUE, LATAILLADE, LEGRAND, LEONCE, LIVINGSTON, MALBRANCHE, MALEBRANCHE, MALVAL, MANOJLOVIC, MENOS, MERLET, MILLER, MODLIN, NICHOLAS, NOEL, PAGE, RAY, RICAUD, ROY, STOODLEY, ST. VILLE, TALON, THOMAS, USHER, VERNELLI, WAWA.

A very, very sad farewell to my beloved Grandmother Marthé Drouin (born Laraque) who passed away this April at the age of 91. She was like my second mother, and is forever daily in my heart, thoughts, deeds and words.
Farewell to my beloved Aunt Gessy Legrand who we lost December 15, 2007...
I also lost some other extremely dear and loved family members this year- Felix "Felo" Laraque (my great uncle and Marthé's brother
- Max Henri Larque (son of Felix)
I will miss them both...
